Fall From Heaven

Fall From Heaven:  Moderately Challenging; 7 miles; 900 feet total elevation gain; allow approx. 60-75 mins.

A mix of intermediate and non-technical expert trails, this ride descends from VSS Trailside to the east branch of the Passumpsic River, offering some amazing views from Heaven’s Bench, a fast/flowing descent down Ridge and Rim trails, and a moderately challenging climb back up to the ridge.

Depart from VSS Trailside and cross Darling Hill Rd onto Bill Magill, keeping KC&E office on your right.  Take your first right onto Heaven’s Bench and follow the trail to the intersection of Ridge.  Turn left onto Ridge and descend until you reach the dirt road (VAST).  Cross over the dirt road and continue on the same trail, which is called Rim on the other side of the road.  Continue on Rim and stay right as it divides, picking up East Branch for a short stretch until it meets back up with the dirt road (VAST).  Turn right onto Culvert Cut as it winds back up toward the ridge, and turn right onto Knob for a twisty, wooded spin back onto VAST.  Turn right onto Rim followed by an immediate left onto East Branch.  Ride East Branch back across VAST to Widow Maker, a moderately challenging climb back up the ridge.  Turn left at the top onto Connector, before taking a quick right onto Bill Magill.  Stay to the right on Bill Magill and pick up Sneaky Pete until turning right onto the Heaven’s Bench climbing trail.  Ride straight past the actual bench and VSS Trailside will come into view.
